Tom Holland has many fans, but not everyone is enamored by the prospect of another Spider-Man movie set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Most film have their detractors in some shape or form. However, a cursory look online will show a growing, increasingly vocal group of MCU Spidey haters. Why is this dissatisfaction occurring, though? And is this a unique situation for film and superhero fanatics?

Time has passed, and Disney’s shocking dismissal of Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn is now in our collective, rear-view mirror. Whether or not Disney continues to stand by their decision, Gunn’s firing will have direct consequences on the studio that spurned him, as well as the movie industry at large.

If Solo receives a set of sequels, these films could capitalize on the first movie’s considerable strengths, rectify its mistakes and bring something unique to Star Wars.
